How it works

Invisalign is a removable brace system that works by gently repositioning your teeth using a series of custom-made clear aligners that sit over your teeth. Each aligner is worn in sequence, typically for between 1-2 weeks and is then swapped for the next aligner.

  • How long does Invisalign treatment take?

    Treatment times for Invisalign will vary depending on how much movement each individual patient needs. Minor to moderate cases can be completed in as little as 3-6 months.

  • How often should the aligners be worn?

    Ideally for 22 hours a day. The aligners must be removed for eating and drinking and to brush and floss your teeth as normal.

  • Are the aligners painful?

    Some patients experience slight pressure or tightness over the teeth in the first few days of wearing each new aligner. This is very normal and indicates that the aligners are working well.

  • Will the aligners affect my speech?

    Some patients notice a very slight change in their speech at the beginning of the treatment, which usually only lasts a few days.

  • How often must I see the dentist once I’ve started the treatment?

    Patients are typically seen every 4-6 weeks to allow the dentist to monitor the progress and to take home the next set of aligners.
